Well hello, I’m Rachel and welcome to Hope Corner Farm!

I help contemporary people take a step towards a self-sufficient life by teaching them skills which have stood the test of time.

I was lucky enough to have grown up on a farm in northern Montana, but time, education, and life lead me miles away from home. The busy pace of our modern world left me yearning for the simple feel of my childhood and I longed to return to my roots. I just wasn’t quite sure how to do that.

It took nearly 10 years, but Aaron (my husband) and I finally moved home because we wanted to raise our kids in a town that has a slower feel. I took a job with our local school district as the Family and Consumer Sciences teacher (think Home Ec.) and Aaron became the facilities manager for the school. Taking these jobs allowed us to purchase 40 acres outside of town. While the land was nice, the house, not so much. It is a total fixer-upper! By the time we are done with remodeling, the house will basically be all new from top to bottom.

Because our place needs so much work, I’ve had to get creative with how to save money and make a beautiful home. Luckily, I teach people how to sew, quilt, crochet, and cook with my current job as a Home Ec teacher, so extending these skills into my personal life has felt natural. If Aaron and I can make it ourselves, we do!

Our Mission

There is something special about how life is lived in the country, so whether you live in the country or the city, we want to help you capture a little piece of that life. It doesn’t matter where you physically are, it only matters where your heart is! So, if a little piece of your heart craves the simple country life, follow our story.

We will share recipes, patterns, country adventures and more here, so please keep coming back! You wouldn’t want to miss anything!

Fun Facts:

*I was hit in the face by a hockey puck at the first (and only) live hockey game that I ever attended! I gained a bloody nose and black eye from that experience!
*My Grandpa Jim raised registered Hereford cattle. I would love to get my own herd someday too!
*Aaron and I grew up in rival towns that were 23 miles apart. We had many similar friends, and yet didn’t meet until we went to college at MSU! In fact, we met through my best friend!
*Even though I grew up on a farm, I never gave an animal a vaccination or shot. My dad, grandpa, and brother took care of that for me. I think I was a little spoiled by that! I have been given a crash course here on our place now for sure!
