How to Even Moss Stitch in Crochet
A nice evenly textured crochet stitch can make any crochet project lovely. The Even Moss Stitch in Crochet is a textured crochet stitch that looks the same on both sides of the crochet work, so there is no right or wrong side to your crocheted project. If you can chain stitch (ch), half double crochet (hdc), and slip stitch (sl st) you can complete the Even Moss Stitch in crochet! So, if you’re ready to learn a new stitch, let’s grab a hook and some yarn and get crocheting!

Crochet Stitch Skills Needed to Complete the Even Moss Stitch:
Materials Needed:
-Yarn of choice (for this crochet tutorial I used a medium – size 4 weight yarn. I also find a light colored yarn works better for seeing stitches when learning a new crochet stitch).
-Crochet hook of choice (for this crochet tutorial I used a J (6.0mm) crochet hook
Chains Needed:
Chain any number of EVEN stitches.
How to Even Moss Stitch – Row 1:
Place a slip stitch into the 2nd chain from the hook.
Place a Half Double Crochet (HDC) in the next chain.
Continue alternating a Slip Stitch followed by a Half Double Crochet stitch across the chain. End the row with a Slip Stitch.
This row starts and ends with a Slip Stitch.
Row 2:
To start this row, chain 1 and turn.
In the first stitch of the row, place a Slip Stitch.
Starting in the next stitch, place (HDC, then Sl St in next) and repeat () across the row. End the row with a Slip Stitch in the last stitch. Remember, each row starts and ends with a Slip Stitch!
Remaining Rows with the Even Moss Stitch:
Each remaining row using the Even Moss Stitch in Crochet is a repeat of Row 2.
This is a 1 row repeat crochet stitch.
