Materials Needed:
Medium weight size 4 yarn in 4 different shades of one color (I used shades of red/pink in this tutorial I specifically used The Cottony One yarn from Lion Brand in the following colors: Red Red Wine, Lychee White. I also used Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton yarn in Pink)
Size H (5.0mm) crochet hook
Yarn needles
Scissors
Blocking Board (optional)
This crochet pattern is written using US crochet terms
Crochet Stitches Used:
Double Crochet 2 Together Stitch
Round 1:
Begin with a Magic Circle and then chain 3 (this Ch 3 counts as a DC and is included in the stitch count for this round).

Now into the Magic Ring place: DC2Tog and Ch 1.

Next place (DC, DC2Tog, Ch 1) 5xs into the Magic Circle.
There will be a total of 6 sections that are comprised of a DC, DC2Tog, and Ch 1.

Now tighten the Magic Circle.

Next to close the round join with a Slip Stitch to the top of the chain 3.


Finally cut the magic circle free from the yarn. Fasten off. Weave in ends. This completes Round 1. (18)
The stitch count for Round 1 is 18 stitches.

Easy Ombre Granny Hexagon – Round 2:
Now before starting Round 2, check out the stitch placement in the photo below.

Begin Round 2 by joining the new color with a Slip Stitch into any of the Chain 1 spaces from the previous round. Then chain 3.

Next place the following into the SAME Ch 1 space: DC2Tog, Ch 1, DC2Tog, DC. This completes the first of the 6 corners.

Now continue around the circle placing (into the next Ch 1 space DC, DC2Tog, Ch 1, DC2Tog, DC) 5xs. This creates the remaining 5 corners.





Next to close Round 2 join with a Slip Stitch to the top of the Ch 3. Cut the crochet granny hexagon free from the yarn. Fasten off the yarn. This completes Round 2.


Round 3:
Now before beginning Round 3 check out the stitch placement for this round in the photo below.

Begin Round 3 by joining with a Slip Stitch into any of the Chain 1 spaces from the previous round of crochet. Chain 3.

Next into the same Ch 1 space you will DC2Tog, Ch 1, DC2Tog, DC. This completes the first corner of the Easy Ombre Hexagon.

Now continue around the crochet hexagon as follows: (In the next space in between stitch clusters place: DC, DC2Tog. In the next Ch 1 space place: DC, DC2Tog, Ch 1, DC2Tog, DC). In the last space in between stitch clusters place DC and DC2Tog.











Finally, close Round 3 by joining with a Slip Stitch to the top of the Ch 3. Cut the crochet ombre hexagon free from the yarn. Fast off. Weave in ends. (40). The stitch count for this round is 40 stitches.


Easy Ombre Granny Hexagon – Round 4:
First before starting this round check out the stitch placement for this round in the photo below:

Now begin by joining with the new color in any of the Ch 1 spaces from the previous round. Chain 3. Remember that this Chain 3 counts as a DC and is counted in the stitch count for this round.

Next place the following into the same Ch 1 space: DC2Tog, Ch 1, DC2Tog, DC. This completes the first corner of the crochet hexagon.

Now continue around the crochet hexagon as follows: (In each of the next TWO spaces in between stitch clusters place: DC, DC2Tog in each of the 2 spaces. In the next Ch 1 space place: DC, DC2Tog, Ch 1, DC2Tog, DC). In each of the last TWO spaces in between stitch clusters place DC and DC2Tog.

















Next close the round by joining with a Slip Stitch to the top of the Chain 3. Cut yarn free. Fasten off. Weave in ends. (50) The stitch count for this round is 50.

Written Crochet Patten Only:
This creates an Ombre Granny Hexagon that is 5.5″ diagonally across from corner to corner.
Round 1:
Begin with a magic circle (or you could chain 4, join with a sl st to the 1st chain to create a circle).
Next chain 3 (this counts as a DC). Into the circle place DC2Tog, Ch 1. Repeat (DC, DC2Tog, Ch 1) 5 more times. (18)
Finally tighten the MC. Join with a sl st to the top of the chain 3 to close the round. Cut yarn. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Ombre Granny Hexagon – Round 2:
Now with new color join with a Slip Stitch to any of the Chain 1 spaces from the previous round. Chain 3 (again this counts as a DC).
Next into the same Ch 1 space place: DC2Tog, Ch 1, DC2Tog, DC.
Now in each of the remaining 5 Chain 1 spaces place: DC, DC2Tog, Ch 1, DC2Tog, DC). (30)
Finally close the round by joining with a Sl St to the top of the chain 3. Cut yarn free. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Round 3:
First with new color join with a Slip Stitch to any of the Chain 1 spaces from the previous round. Chain 3 (again this counts as a DC).
Next into the same Ch 1 space place: DC2Tog, Ch 1, DC2Tog, DC.
Now in the space in between stitch clusters place: DC, DC2Tog.
Next repeat: (In the next Ch 1 space place: DC, DC2Tog, Ch 1, DC2Tog, DC. In the next space in between stitches place DC, DC2Tog) 5xs. (40)
Finally close the round by joining with a Sl St to the top of the chain 3. Cut yarn free. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
