Crochet Scrunchie

Who loves a cute crochet scrunchie? It seems as if the 90s are back in full force! Many young people are rocking scrunchies again. With that in mind, I decided to come up with a quick and easy crochet scrunchies pattern. What I have noticed is that when I am working on these, I have people ask if I can make them one all of the time! I keep really busy making these…hopefully you will too!
I am including a photo tutorial for a Crochet Scrunchie. This version of a scrunchie gives a more unique look to the popular hair accessory. This is a a quick crochet project. It is a 15-minute crochet project.

Round 1:
To begin, Place as many SCs onto the hair tie as possible. Squish the SCs together to fit more. Join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet.
Crochet Scrunchie – Round 2:
To start, chain 2. Place 3 DCs into each single crochet from the previous round.
Round 3:
Now, chain 2. Front Post Double Crochet onto the first DC from the previous round. Back Post Double Crochet onto the next DC. Alternate FPDC and BPDC the entire way around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the first FPDC. Fasten off. Weave in tails. Enjoy!
Photo Tutorial Directions – Round 1:
To begin, make a slip knot on your hook.

Next, place the yarn inside of the hair tie (see attached picture).

Start by single crocheting around the hair tie. I used the Goody Ouchless hairties and I was able to fit 40 SC onto the hair tie (you do have to smoosh the SC together a couple of times to fit that many onto the hair tie).

Now, place as many single crochets around the hair tie as you possibly can. I even squish the SCs together to fit more around the hair tie. The key here is to squeeze as many SCs into the hair tie as possible.

To finish round 1, join with a slip stitch to the first SC.

Crochet Scrunchie – Round 2:
To begin this round, Chain 3.

Now, place 3 double crochets into EACH single crochet all the way around the scrunchie.

Join with a slip stitch to the top of the first double crochet.

Round 3:
To start round three, chain 3.

All of the way around the scrunchie, alternate front post double crochets (FPDC) and back post double crochets (BPDC) onto the double crochets from the previous round.

To finish, join with a slip stitch to the top of the first FPDC. Fasten off end. Weave in tails. Enjoy!
